You might not have heard of Domaine Dujac.

You probably have heard of its two biggest endorsers, though:

Jay-Z and DJ Khaled

So, how did this Burgundy winery become a mainstay of hip-hop and rap?

👇 👇 👇
Hip hop and rap emerged in the late 60s and early 70s.

An early theme was braggadocio aka bragging.

Just take these lines from Rapper’s Delight:

"I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but we like hot butter on our breakfast toast.
Artists took on braggadocio to new heights in The Bling Era (early 2000s).

Guys like Kanye and Rick Ross made names for themselves by rapping about cars, money, and women.

Two notable figures during The Bling Era?

You guessed it.

Jay-Z and DJ Khaled
Domaine Dujac is a natural extension of the hip-hop and rap universe.

While Jim Jones and Ron Browz talk about poppin’ champagne,

You can find Jay-Z and DJ Khaled cracking $7,000 bottles of pinot noir.
Here’s the difference.

Jay-Z and DJ Khaled are more than fans of wine.

They’re investors.

In 2014, Jay-Z invested $200 million in Armand de Brignac champagne.

According to Food & Wine, Jay-Z makes 5x more money from alcohol than rapping.
Jay-Z even namedropped Dujac in DJ Khaled's "Top Off."

“Dujac by the mag, that's how we do wine $91,000 for a wine bill / Keep it real with you, that was Juan's bill."

As the song climbed up the charts, so did Dujac's prices...

Talk about a market-mover.
Jay-Z is the person who introduced DJ Khaled to fine wine.

When Khaled started Weight Watchers, he talked about saving room for a glass or two of Domaine Dujac’s Chambertin Grand Cru.

Rap moguls and fine wine might seem like an odd pairing.

I’d disagree.

Fine wine and hip-hop are things that anyone can enjoy,

Regardless of their age, sex, or race.
We’ve also seen more musicians and athletes plan for second careers.

Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin owns a winery.

So does former Patriot’s QB Drew Bledsoe.

Snoop Dogg even partnered with 19 Crimes to create his own bottle of wine.
There are a million reasons to invest in fine wine, especially Domaine Dujac.

If I had to boil it all down to one, though, I’d say this:

10% to 20% annual returns for 9 years and running.

It's had to find these kinds of steady returns anywhere else.

Fin. 🥂
