just wanted to bring up something that i've noticed and have been thinking about for a while: 巧克力吧/棒 (qiǎokèlì ba/bàng) is the literal chinese phrase for "chocolate bar." sure, it's a partial transliteration of the english phrase, but wyb's speaking proper chinese here.
i see this clip used a lot in compilations of wyb being cute or speaking cutely, which is mostly harmless — as a chinese speaker, his tone/pronunciation here sounds like his normal tone/pronunciation in the rest of the video and, indeed, matches how he usually speaks elsewhere
at least to me. but it's stan twitter, you can find anything about your faves cute, and he IS being a cute gremlin teasing xz about his snacking habits, so it's really no skin off my back.
however, it would be nice to see less of what's screencapped here, divorced of context — i know people mean this stuff as a harmless joke, but it really does read like someone poking fun at wyb for """poorly pronouncing english""" when he's really just saying chinese words
in the way chinese is suppose to be pronounced. sorry! people will probably think i'm being too ~sensitive but i really wanted to say something so that people know a bit more about the nuances of the language, should they be interested
and to ask that people be a bit more mindful of the optics when posting things like this. that's all!
