I made $14M from ETH in the crypto bull market of 2017. When things get wacky again, look out for these three things, none of which I expected.
1. Backlash from the engineers. You assume they all have huge stacks. Many don’t. Their ability to solve technical problems is what brought them here. They are the most important segment in crypto. Full Stop. But many will be pissed when retail investors start making millions.
Human nature. I don’t allow them the conceit. If it wasn’t for those of us willing to pony up and take the risk, this would all be a fascinating intellectual experiment you might read about in a dusty journal. Our money gives it life. Don’t ever apologize for that.
2. Those who don’t believe in the underlying promise of their coin will trade it away and lose it all. There is always something better-sounding. They will jump to the next big thing because they let the casino mentality take over.
I believed in Ethereum in an almost religious way. Still do. I wasn’t tempted by ICOs that I didn’t understand and thus couldn’t believe in. But many will lose themselves and jump aboard what they think will be the next rocket, before it crashes to earth and they go broke.
3. The dips in a bull market are much harder psychologically than the dips in a bear market. Your brain will get used to the dopamine hits of making tens of thousands of dollars or more a day. When things go truly insane, your life will change by the hour.
But the inevitable 20%-30% dips will gut you emotionally. It’s like sudden withdrawal from opiates. You won’t realize how much you’ve come to depend on the hit of money your body has become accustomed to.
Won't matter than you are up 300% that month, your brain wants it all, right now. This can tempt you to trade, to buy back at a lower level, etc. Or jump to a riskier coin to regain your equilibrium that requires big gains every hour, every day. In the end, you will be recked.
