The nightmare of Covid won’t end until we stop mass testing. If somebody feels unwell a diagnostic test is the sensible tool. Continued mass testing healthy people to get positive cases (not infections in many cases) serves no purpose other than continuing this endless nightmare
Also mass testing of people who are sadly at end of life (with serious/critical/terminal underlying illness) will only guarantee that a percentage (3%) of the overall daily death toll in Ireland (avg 80 people) are counted as Covid deaths.
Covid is sadly another virus like many others that we must contend with as human beings.Thankfully this virus is not very serious for those under 65 & rarely causes death but for those over 80 the virus poses a risk although still low unless there is serious underlying conditions
We need to live with many bacterial and viral infections & take personal responsibility for ourselves and others while the state takes steps to protecting the at risk groups. Continuing lockdowns will destroy far more lives in incalculable ways, destroy economies & mental health.
The current strategy is not working & according to “experts” even the vaccine may not be the answer and could take years to reduce spread of the virus. We need a new strategy and NPHET group think need to be replaced with group who are focused on to the social impact of lockdowns
