Zaid is responding to a guy who thinks that leftists who weighed in on a thread about eating unusual animals are animal-haters. Zaid thinks the dude is basically right, but that animal-eaters are indifferent to animals.

I believe that it's possible to both love animals and eat them. Any means of sustenance ends up killing animals--even the most benign agriculture.

Eating unconventional animals can be a lot more humane than eating factory farmed meat. The animal gets to be free until the end. Hunters gain a vested interest in conservation of the animals' habitat.
