And before you object by saying Trump can't be smart enough to actually be extorting McConnell, please read the article — Trump is not being smart at all. This extortion effort is, in fact, really stupid and desperate.
As for evidence, Exhibit #1: Trump really does think that McConnell and other Republican officials have a secret cheat code for stealing the election, and they just need to be threatened more to stop holding out on him.
Exhibit #2: Trump knows that McConnell believes passing this bill before the Georgia run-off is they key to winning. Trump's only real "negotiation" tactic is to find the thing you want, and threaten to take it away if you don't do what he wants, aka extortion.
Basically, Trump is doing to McConnell what he tried to do to Volodymyr Zelensky, but instead of threatening to withhold military aid in exchange for helping him cheat in the election, he's threatening to withhold this coronavirus bill. Trump is a one-trick pony.
The best part is that if McConnell had convicted Trump for extorting Zelensky when he had a chance, he wouldn't be dealing with being the subject of yet another one of Trump's idiotic extortion schemes. You knew he was a snake when you picked him up, Mitch.
I see some children out there who imagine they are "leftists" are childishly fantasizing that Daddy Trump actually wants to help them. Which....I guess they were asleep for the last year. Trump has never done a good thing for another person in his life, and he's not starting now.
Since Trump is only pretending to want to give Americans $2,000 as a way to put the heat on McConnell, I doubt that it's going to happen. But hell, I'm glad Pelosi & company are giving it the old college try. If nothing else, they get Republicans on the record voting against it.
