ABOUT NEANDERTHALS

1 Here I illustrated some visual evidence connecting #Neanderthals with modern Europeans, hoping to clarify once and for all some issues.

2 The scientific paper which found a single ancestor for blue-eyed humans has the mere purpose of keeping the Out of Africa theory afloat. The gene they traced, OCA2, is only correlated with blue eyes, it's not what causes them.

3 As Ligures wonderfully explained, the partial or complete HERC2 Gene activation determines the concentration of melanin in our cells, causing the depigmentation we see as blue eyes and blond hair. We now know neanderthals had this gene, and therefore likely had fair features.

4 This adaptation took +500,000 years to be complete, being caused by natural selection (as well as it occurred with Polar Bears). To claim that sapiens had that same adaptation in only 30-40k years is just ridiculous.

5 On the left, you see the skull of a Neanderthal, on the right, the skull of a Nordic man. The features I remarked here are shared by both Europeans and Neanderthals, but are NOT present in other races. As you see, native Europeans still keep most Neanderthal traits.

6 What about Neanderthal skull shape? Neanderthals (WE) lost our elongated skulls when we mixed with smaller-headed sapiens, female sapiens couldn’t deliver a half Neanderthal with a larger skull, their narrower pelvic bone made delivery impossible (as Marie explained years ago).

7 The second big change in the european anatomy came with agriculture. As we no longer needed to hunt, our skeletons weakened and deteriorated dramatically, leaving us with our (roughly speaking) current form.

8 The Neanderthal skeleton has changed over time, but it is most similar to that of the modern European man. For instance, his shoulder-elbow and waist-hip ratio are closer to that of Europeans than Asians.

9 Here you see a Neanderthal skull on the left and the skull of a homo sapiens who lived roughly at the same period on the right. Which one do you think better resembles the European man?

10 Some of the latest Neanderthal reconstructions are probably closer to the real Neanderthal phenotype, but they had an inaccurate nose shape. Neanderthal skulls reveal that they had a prominent (Caucasian) nose.

11 Finally, I have overlapped the skull of Neanderthals on some native European people. As you see, they fit perfectly.
