Let's talk about homemade medicines.

Our pill popping culture (I am equally complicit) has made us forget our homemade medicines.

My father still makes two very effective medicines at home.
First one is called Amritdhara. Literally the stream of ambrosia.
It is made by combining just three solid ingredients in equal parts - karpoor (camphor), ajjwain satva, pudina satva. Once combined, the solids give way to a liquid concoction.
Amritdhara is extremely effective against headaches, runny nose, eyes due to exposure to cold as well as indigestion. It is also available in Ayurvedic shops. But I personally find them less effective than homemade ones.
My kid just swears by it. Anytime she has had exposure to cold, she herself asks for Dadu made Amritdhara which is always in constant supply from home.

Now I plan to start making on my own (under Papa's guidance)
The second medicine which he makes (and quite popular in HP) are mag-jaiphal tablets. Made from mace and nutmeg powders that have been bound in ghee & honey

When the temperature hits near 0 C in the hills, these tablets (taken with hot milk at bedtime) help the body fight cold
What are the desi medicines that were made / used at your home?
