Harry & Linda both needed fish 
to eat while on the island.
Each day they spent 8hrs fishing to have enough to eat.
One day Linda had an idea:
"What if I only spent 6hrs fishing, and 2hrs working on a better system for catching fish?"

The next day Linda spent 2hrs working on a fishing pole, and 6hrs fishing.
She caught less fish than Harry did, and went to bed a little hungry.
Harry said what she was doing was risky.
He said, "You need to eat; don't worry about tools, just catch the fish with your hands."

The next day Linda again spent 2hrs working on a fishing pole, and only 6hrs fishing.
She didn't catch as many fish as Harry did.
He ate enough to be full; but Linda was going to bed hungry.
This continued for 3 more days.

On the morning of the 6th day, Linda's fishing pole was complete! 
She went out and caught a day's worth of food in just 3 hours.
Finally, she was able to go to bed that night with a full stomach.
Harry fished for 8hrs using his hands and also went to bed full.

The next day, after just 3hrs of fishing, Linda had caught all she needed and decided to use the rest of her day to begin working on a boat so she could catch fish even better. 
She and Harry both went to bed full.

After a week Linda had finished her boat and was now able to take her fishing pole out into deeper waters.
There she caught bigger fish which were better for food.
And she did it in record time.
She no longer had to wait for fish to come to the shore, she could go to them.

This story is not about fishing.
There are "Harry's" in the world that are trapped living paycheck-to-paycheck spending all day working for just enough to get by.
But a few people will choose to go to bed a little hungry because they worked on a tool.
There are "Harry's" in the world that are trapped living paycheck-to-paycheck spending all day working for just enough to get by.

These "Linda's" of the world are creating businesses and second or third streams of income.
Late nights, early mornings, and not always able to go-out; they're choosing to make a sacrifice now to allow them more opportunities later.

The biggest thing that separates Linda from Harry isn't her acumen, intelligence, business degree, or family connections; it's her TIME PREFERENCE.
The ability to make a trade off today for tomorrow.
