$2000 instead of $600 stimulus? Don't get me wrong, that would be great. But here's what this last second holdup is affecting:
Both of the current Federal Unemployment extensions (regular & gig workers) expire Dec 27.

--->>That's 4 days from today. <<---

For some, they already exhausted this 13 week extension due to their state having a shorter UI week limit than most. This extension is needed NOW.
Second: As written into the current stimulus bill, the qualifying income threshold is based on 2019 tax filings... UNTIL JANUARY 15. Payments not sent by Jan 15 would then be based on 2020 tax filings, something most people will not have done or even be able to do by then.
The chances of changing & passing $2k stimulus payments at the last second, let alone in the next 4 days, is slim to none.

Meanwhile, we risk knocking thousands or millions off of UI unnecessarily, and delaying ANY stimulus payments for months.

Who does this help?
Current numbers I'm finding estimate 12-14 million people will lose Unemployment Dec 27 if this bill is not signed by then.
