I’ve been up since 3:30am. Couldn’t sleep so of course my mind starts going crazy. Obviously about football because I’m obsessed. Specifically about QB’s and the draft since it’s a hot topic with my 49ers. So here we go.. thread time
#CrockTalk lol
#CrockTalk lol
So first I started thinking about just how impressed I’ve been with Zach Wilson. Saw Daniel Jeremiah say he has some Aaron Rodgers to him.. I was like ok I can see that. Then was like damn.. how high will he go? 2? 3? Top 8? Do you trade up for a guy? It’s a solid class..
And then I started thinking about teams in recent years that have traded up for QBs..
Rams moved up from 15 to 1 for Goff
Eagles from 12 to 8 to 2 for Wentz
Chiefs from 27 to 10 for Mahomes
Texans from 25 to 12 for Watson
(Clearly no QB is EVER out of reach if you want him)

So i started thinking.. is it worth it to trade up for a guy YOU want most? Or.. do you settle? Also.. why do guys not work out? So obviously it worked out just fine for Chiefs and Texans.. but what are the chances of that happening.. so then I think About Goff and Wentz..
So.. Wentz.. he definitely has sucked as of late.. and people may point to him as a reason as to why you don’t trade up. Give up assets for a QB who is now benched. But I tried to go a little deeper.. like.. the evaluation part. Were they wrong about what he can be? I’d say. No.
Wtv they saw in Wentz to trade up from 12 to 2 for him.. he has shown he can be that guy. He played at an MVP level clearly showing he belongs in the NFL and can not only be a starter but play at the highest level. He is who they thought he was
The part I don’t understand is.. why are guys who clearly show the ability to play at high levels so inconsistent. Like.. Baker Mayfield.. did a switch suddenly go off and he just start lighting it up?
I will say.. Mayfield has shown.. he can be the guy they thought he could be. He has played well in stretches and has done everything they thought he could.
I think a lot of it the situation they go to. Is the franchise doing right by the young QB? Most of the time they get drafted into shitty situations.. and then before you know it they are beat up and lose confidence..
I think if you have a plan and solid foundation for a QB, their chances of being successful drastically increase. If you don’t, they’ll fail lol. It’s pretty clear. Trevor Lawrence is a great prospect but Jags are shitty.. as good as he is.. I wouldn’t bet it works out. Lol
Jags have shown you what type of organization they are under this new owner. They do weird shit and suck. It’s pretty clear lol. They have all this money, all the draft capital.. but I don’t think their structure is good. We’ll see. Wouldn’t bet on him just being super successful
I’ve seen tweets about “well.. you might not get a great QB. I’m not trading all those picks” .. WHAT? lol man.. you don’t get successful at anything in life playing it safe. Have a plan.. have structure.. swing for the fences..
You know who plays it safe? Losers lol that’s who. Swing for the fences. “What if it doesn’t workout?” Then it doesn’t work out. But playing it safe gets you nowhere. Just running in circles. And eventually you’ll get fired anyways lol. Go all in. Just have a plan/structure
I ain’t playin shit safe. Lol that’s for losers. Just opened up my own training facility. I’m all in. I won’t fail. Cuz I ain’t soft and I ain’t worrying about the “what if’s” or trying to take a more conservative route. Swing big baby or strike out looking.
“Just wait until a later round to get a qb” .. no.. wtf lol QB is the most important position on the field.. and there’s a reason most starting QBs go high first round. Not a coincidence. There’s a reason guys like Nick Mullens go undrafted.. not a coincidence.
