Saw a review on Goodreads the other day for HANG THE MOON, mad it wasn’t f/f like WRITTEN IN THE STARS.

I’ve been thinking about this a LOT ever since in terms of my own Author Brand. Insert thread of me thinking out loud about queer romance
First, I know Goodreads is just Goodreads, & I wasn’t surprised about this take because lesbians be intense lol

But also, queer women who want f/f have valid complaints! Other than indies who specialize in queer stuff, it’s been almost nonexistent for Big 4
This year we had SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT and WRITTEN IN THE STARS, which is great! But I’m trying to think of any f/f romance for 2021 from the Big 4, at least that we’ve really heard about yet, & coming up blank? Give us more f/f
I also have no problem with authors who choose to only really write one gender pairing, ESPECIALLY if that matches their own identity, because duh

THAT SAID...I have no problem with HANG THE MOON being m/f because....

I always want to read about all the ways to bang
& I know this mainly has to do with MY identity but I really cannot comprehend not wanting to read about all the ways to bang 😂

Like, the fact that m/m is such an easier sell, to both publishers & readers, than f/f—there is a LOT to unpack about that, but I WANT BOTH???
& accordingly this is how I write. I’ve written 4 things so far that will be published in the upcoming years, and they all have different gender pairings. Obviously I will have to start repeating soon lol but THERE ARE PLENTY MORE THAN 4 TO CHOOSE FROM!
& to me, that is the beauty of both being queer and being a queer reader & writer—there are some many limitless things to explore, about our bodies, our genders, our loves.
This is one reason I loved @emclellanwrites’s SO OVER THE HOLIDAYS books this year! All queer, all different ways to bang & love!! I feel like I found a kindred spirit, but one who can write WAY hotter sex & knows way more about toys than me lol
ANYWAY, I know this is just me, & not everyone is going to love all my different books equally. Or be mad that I write about certain pairings. And that’s okay, but I’m trying to prep myself for it now, I guess. For me it is always about exploring queerness—
& there are some pairings I wouldn’t write, like trans stories beyond being enby, because those are not my stories to write.

My hope is that there are enough freaks out there like me who also always, ALWAYS want to read about all the different ways to bang & love, too.
