Every time I see some “France gave 80% of wages during the pandemic” take in my TL, I will shove that tweet in OP’s face. https://twitter.com/princesssynahel/status/1341733780357320704
France and the US both failed their people in different ways during the pandemic, is what I’m saying.
Macron’s gvt pretended COVID would go away after a month of lockdown and then completely lifted everything up in the summer and acted surprised when the second wave hit even harder and is now flip flopping between locking down or not.
This is in addition of doing bullshit like “you can’t leave your house for any reason except working, you wouldn’t want to hurt the economy, would you?”
Oh and also working from home? While it became the “norm” in the US, France has /yet/ to require it nationwide, so people have to go to commute and go to their workplace still 🙃
Anyway, I don’t have a conclusion to this rant apart from the fact that the failed response of your western country isn’t isolated, it’s systemic, every other country failed in different ways and it’s no accident.
(I say “western” as a broad generalization, don’t come in my replies arguing over semantics)
