Dude, just stop. The books were always labeled EXPANDED UNIVERSE and they were always “official” Star Wars media. The word canon was never used until you newbies came into play to legitimize the weak sequel trilogy. you would hear them describe the word “canon” as a current story feature. It’s not a whole. George Lucas himself took several things from the EU and put them right into the prequels, making people, places, ships, etc. “canon” even though you misinterpret that as an impossibility.
Why? Because they are official. Some of us were around during the height of the EU because there were no other Star Wars movies yet. It was all OFFICIAL. Why are EU tots still be created? Officially? A Jains Solo figure beat the shit out of Revan in the voting contest.
