Is Emery really the portrayed villain of Takefusa Kubo's story at Yellow Submarine or are there deeper layers? Did Real Madrid make the wrong choice? Where is it going wrong?

Take Kubo joined Villarreal after his first ever professional season — which ended on very high note at relegated side Mallorca for Kubo, the significant improvements had Villarreal, Sevilla etc after his signature.

Despite the improvements, Take Kubo is only on his second ever professional season.

The club appointed Emery to replace Calleja, Europa League football & a lot of investments including likes of Dani Parejo & Coquelin meant that Villarreal will be aiming even higher than last year — increasing the pressure on everyone.

Kubo started the season on bench for Villarreal, but his off the bench performances pushed fans to put pressure on the coach for player to start — that & media power given RM prestige that Kubo does possess meant integration will be harder.

Coach isn't just handling the result pressure, but having 2 talented Samu Chukwueze & Take Kubo being the constant talk point – it increases the workload of the coach, who on top of that has to integrate a lot of new signings too.

Since Emery words, Kubo has tried to increase his defensive work-rate & add output but that has shown a decrease on his performances & not being able to really improve in both ends – the pressure is too much to handle.

Kubo's time has consistently decreased as he was unable to break through the shell, the pressure to handle seems to have become much for youngster & reports coming out are that the loan-deal could end as soon as January.

Ødegaard had his first ever professional season in Eredivise, where he struggled and as he grew there, Madrid sent him back in Spain with La Real as ready for that level player.
Kubo's decision is a rushed move — he is not ready for this step.

Short answer is NO. He is within his rights to demand his players don't become a weakness to the set up, rather they improve it which neither Kubo or Chukwueze have been able to — this is life in a bigger club which players have to fit in.

A player has to fit into different set ups & do different work. It's not mismanagement from Emery.

Kubo went from being the heart of everything to a piece of puzzle, it is a big transition which 3 months into the season – he's failed to make, the issue isn't big as kid is just 18 & this experience early on could shape his career for better.

Another club or completing the season with Villarreal, this is something that the players has to go through & grow from it — the reality is that such situations can make or break a young player & it's all up to him to give the best possible response.

We drew parallels with Ødegaard and Kubo will be hoping to follow such steps, but it is way too early for him & he will need the necessary growth to handle an even bigger club than Villarreal with much higher demands and expectations.

It is important but not the most important thing, essentially footballers spend most of their time on training ground & that is where his head should be — when that is the case, minutes on pitch come along naturally.

If it's an possibility, he should finish the season with Villarreal as the growth & test throughout the season could come into fruition soon after, being with demanding coach could ease his way & speed up his process with right mentality and approach.

Kubo is not ready for RM – and neither for Villarreal & Emery is being portrayed wrongly, what the coach is asking is completely fair for that level & is up to player for responding in such situations by improving the questioned areas to their game.
