Vic Washington takes the opening kickoff back 97 yards for a touchdown. Toni Fritsch hits a 37 yard field goal. 49ers 7-3.
San Francisco’s Larry Shreiber scores the 1st of his 3 rushing touchdowns. San Francisco up 14-3.
San Francisco goes up 21-3. Cowboys cut into the lead with a field goal and finally reach the end zone when Morton hits Lance Alworth for a 28 yard touchdown. 21-13 halftime.
Dallas turned the ball over two more times. San Francisco rushed for another touchdown.
Trailing 28-13 in the 4th quarter, Staubach replaces Morton but fumbles. The 49ers are unable to capitalize missing a field goal.
Calvin Hill's 48-yard run then set up a field goal that got the Cowboys within 28-16 with 10 minutes to play.
Teams trade possessions. Staubach then spotted Parks in the end zone for the first of his two touchdown passes. Dallas was now down 28-23 with 1:20 to play.
Cowboys kicker Toni Fritsch fooled the 49ers. He lined up to kick to the left, but instead squibbed the ball to the right, bouncing it off the 49ers' Preston Riley. Mel Renfro recovered the ball for the Cowboys.
Then with 52 seconds to play, the game-winner went to Ron Sellers, capping a 15-point rally in the 4th quarter and a 30-28 victory.
