Remember, the human brain is evolutionarily primed to remember negative information more readily than positive. Unpleasant experiences are more vivid, more lasting. So, you have to fill your mind with joy. Take in 5 moments of happiness for every moment of pain.
And even though it seems like humans are awful, that's partly because we can remember bad stuff more easily than good. Never, never forget that humans are more likely to help each other than any other primate. We are less likely to fight. We are all born as empathic creatures.
Humans have an incredible capacity for joy, for love, for empathy and compassion, and for beauty. It's hard to remember some times, but our species is amazing. Look around you. People are worth celebrating.
