A few thoughts on what I would do if I were in Stan Kroenke’s shoes. Ultimately it is his decisions that have brought us to where we are today. A great football institution on its knees & on course for relegation. However as much as I despise the Kroenke’s for what they’ve done
to AFC I hate the thought of sliding into the Championship even more. The first thing we must do is buy ourselves some time. Much as I am loath to allow the players that have got the last two managers the sack to repeat this again with Arteta I don’t think he can turn this around
I would give him the chance to prove he can but if he fails to take 6 points from the next 3 games we have to act. In the meantime I would be sounding out Rafa Benitez on whether he’d take the job. He has the experience and know how to keep us in the PL. I can’t think of a
better candidate he knows the PL inside out & did a brilliant job at Newcastle with limited resources. The next thing I’d do is controversial and Kroenke would probably not give it the time of day but here goes. I would appoint David Dein on a short term basis as DOF and sack Edu
The reason I’d appoint him are that he loves Arsenal Football Club and would have their best interests at heart. I’d trust him with picking the next DOF. He is shrewd and has many contacts all over Europe. He knows football unlike the Kroenke’s and if they’d only swallow their
pride and allow him back into the fold I’m sure he would bring some stability to the club. I know he’s getting on a bit but he’s still as sharp as a tack and it would only be on a short term basis until we bring in a younger man as DOF. Once he does that I would make him the
Chairman of the club and I’d also put David O’Leary on the board of directors. Dein & O’Leary both know the club inside out and more importantly know football which nobody on the current board does. I know Kroenke probably wouldn’t contemplate turning to David Dein but I honestly
believe him and Benitez and the right calls. The next thing I’d do is make sure the likes of Xhaka, Kolasinac, Mustafi and Ozil etc are gone in the January window come what may. I know many of you will disagree with me on some of these points but that’s what I’d do
