Amazing - thanks to @Roy_Astro a parcel has arrived. Its contents have travelled millions of miles to get here. What is inside has literally blown my mind. The postman had absolutely no knowledge of the immense significance of his parcel.

Meteorites! These three fragments from the NWA 869 meteorite which peppered a field in Africa at some point in the past. These fragments formed around 4.4 billion years ago in the Asteroid Belt and have travelled through space for the entire history of the Solar System.

These are part of the Nantan Meteorite that fell on China in 1516. These iron rich fragments originated from within now long-gone dwarf planets from the asteroid belt that were big enough to have molten interiors. Rocks like these formed the Earth.

And these are very special. About 780,000 years ago the Earth got blasted by a broken up comet. The fireballs ejected Earth rocks right out of the atmosphere for them to rain down on the Philippines as these Tektikes. Earth rocks that went to space! How cool is that?!

These are for school. Will probably do a talk about them and maybe get the pupil's to measure the density of them or something. Again my huge thanks to @Roy_Astro for this amazing opportunity.
