we keep seeing 'discourse' over identity labels and people who use various labels describing the ways in which people of other labels are oppressed, and it's annoying because so many times people treat these labels like mutually-exclusive categories, when none of them are.
queer identity labels are not mutually exclusive, they're not taxonomies for queer people to be sorted to or entirely different cultures, and while they do have their distinctness, the labels themselves and the experiences of those who use them broadly overlap.
most of them time when it's framed as 'discourse', it erases the fact that most of the time it's just petty harassment happening on the part of those who whether they're being knowingly hateful or not, are nonetheless parroting rhetoric sourced from TERFs and the like.
like we keep seeing it thrown around like "non-lesbians stop talking about lesbian experiences", usually referring to bi/pan wlw, and it's kind of nonsense.
stop presuming that identities and experiences are mutually exclusive and can't be understood and experienced by others.
anyway while it sounds useful on the surface, 'comphet' as a term was created by a terf and has been used with intent to attack and exclude trans people and bi/pan women, and framing it as 'lesbian-exclusive' erases the ways heteronormativity effects all queer people.
like coercive allo/cis/heteronormativity is something all queer people experience, both individually and as a community, because society itself is built on allo/cis/heteronormativity.
they're experiences that go beyond singular identity labels.
and trying to claim that identity labels and the experiences of those who use them are mutually exclusive only damages the ability to relate and form solidarity against queermisia in all of its myriad forms.
anyway vi'll get off our soapbox now, vi just felt like vi needed to say something about it all.
