the alcohol metaphor is less: YOU CANT MIX THOSE TWO DRINKS TOGETHER THEY'RE RELATED

its more: why the fuck are you mixing caffeine and alcohol together/why are you serving Diet antifreeze that shit's dangerous --

-- and the bartend responding 'you don't have to get it if you don't like it' and while they're RIGHT, that doesnt change the fact someone's gonna get hurt with what they're serving, and you're excusing the bartend's lack of a mixology degree --
