I need y'all to stop applying to HBCUs thinking you're getting the same experience with a different name. Our Institutions, just like our Communities, are not a monolith. Do you research. There's an HBCU for everyone.
Folks be looking for one experience, which usually is D9dom, Marching Band, Football, and a lot homecoming, not realizing the way these experiences look are not the same on every HBCU campus.
a lit homecoming****
And these HBCU accounts that have the platform to do so should find ways to educate ppl on those differences because it helps prospects find the school that's best for them and potentially destroying the "Big 3" mentality.
On the real, I think we do a great deal of limiting ourselves when we only show those areas of HBCU culture, because then it generalizes them all.
This is no diss to HBCU institutions. It’s a call to action for prospectives and current students and alumni to get to a place where they revere the history and find ways to keep up with the legacy. All it takes is a simple conversation with other alum or opening a book.
