I honestly think my favorite discourse ever about rdr2 was someone who was upset about all the NSFW content in the fandom because it made it an unsafe space for minors.
like.. its an 18+ game
dont misunderstand this btw ahfkjf i think people should properly tag their NSFW content, and that blogs that post NSFW should say it, but idk it was such a weird complaint. like it's an adult space to begin with?
to add on to this, it's also why I find the discourse about problematic content in fics so strange too. after certain age, you should be able to read fanfiction in a critical way, and know that featuring something disturbing in a fic =/= the author supporting the disturbing stuff
I get the argument about being cautious as a content creator when the media you base your fanwork on is child-friendly, but for things like RDR2 or Hannibal, there is a certain expectation that the fanbase is old enough to understand the difference between fiction and reality
(this is perhaps more specifically about the ship hannigram ahfkljhf like no one (hopefully) seriously supports a cannibal gaslighting a FBI profiler and feeding him ears, most people just find their dynamic interesting)
also with that said, everyone are allowed to find content disturbing, and wanting nothing to do with certain content, but as always, its up to each and every person to filter out the things they don't want to see
like I have so many things i literally cannot stomach, enough that I have to filter out authors names in ao3 because I don't want to see their fics popping up in my feed, but all the responsibility to not see those sort of things lie on me
