NieR Automata
Endind E (SPOILERS)
The purpose behind NieR Automata EXPLAINED through the final OST

Give up here?
Is it all pointless?
Do you think games are silly little things?
Do you admit there is no meaning to this world?
Do you accept defeat?
This is one of my favorite OSTs of all time.
It feels and sounds like a videogame.
But as it progresses, the lonely vocals join in.
The level is hard and you're struggling.
You're on the verge of quitting.

"Rescue Offer Received from _____"
Do you wish to accept?
Until now the lyrics had been dark and lonely:

I feel like I'm losing hope
In my body and my soul
And the sky, it looks so ominous
And as time comes to a halt
Silence starts to overflow
My cries are inconspicuous -
- Tell me God, are you punishing me?
Is this the price I'm paying for my past mistakes?
This is my redemption song
I need you more than ever right now
Can you hear me now?

---- These are the lyrics as you wonder if you are really all alone.

Then the chorus bursts into focus:
Cause we're going to shout it loud
Even if our words seem meaningless
It's like I'm carrying the weight of the world
I wish that someway, somehow
That I could save every one of us
But the truth is that I'm only one girl
Maybe if I keep believing my dreams will come to life
Then we get the last lines of the verse:

After all the laughter fades
Signs of life all washes away
I can still, still feel a gentle breeze
No matter how hard I pray
Signs of warning still remain
And life has become my enemy
A miracle occurs as we receive help and are saved
The weight of the world is no longer on our shoulders alone as Strangers who have beaten the game offer their own gameplay data to be deleted just so WE can beat it

The choir wraps us in its arms and drowns out our lonely voice
What is the message of this piece? What is the message of NieR Automata?

At a young age, Yoko Taro watched his close friend fall to his death and he began to question the meaning of life. In his darkness and struggle he was able to find meaning.

The message teaches us that the-
-author wants us to receive this as more than just a game. He put his heart, soul, and personal experiences into this masterpiece.

As the lyrics above say
Everything is designed to end one day
Is this "blessing of life" a curse or punishment from our creator?

The time we spend-
-with others is compared to light in NieR. As a joyous moment that we hold precious, as represented by the progression of the choir's embrace in this OST.

When we're connected to one another, we feel and find meaning through emotions and feelings.

EVEN THOUGH this life is desi-
-gned to end in a perpetual cycle of life and death, life is about the struggle within this cycle. The connections that we make with others. Yoko Taro states that "This is what WE believe."
Life is a series of embarrassing moments, but it's something that we should take in stride
Life isn't given to us. It's something we must take for ourselves.

And the final words of this game are a thank you from the creator himself as he pours his heart out to us and thanks us for listening to him as he helps us to try and heal through our own personal struggles.

The
very last option we are given is to sacrifice our own data. Erase the entire game, in order to help someone else in need.
As we carry out this cycle of love and connecting with others, the idea is that we're not alone and we can influence other's lives as much as they influence-
-our lives.

This OST is the perfect representation of the ending and is something that I feel means a lot to me.
It strikes me in the heart and portrays the struggles we face everyday as we long to feel wanted, cared for, and loved as well as our fears of losing what we care for
Thanks for reading!

I hope you could get something out of this.
This is honestly one of my favorite games of all-time and @yokotaro is one of my favorite game creators for the personal investment and heart he puts into his games.

Thank you as well, Yoko Taro!
