[RANT] So. Podcasts. I love them and I hate them. Part of my beef with them is that it seems that the podcast community is focused on exactly two genres. Audio Fiction and Actual Play. Both are wonderful segments but they're not the ONLY genres in Podcasting. (1/7)
Being a participant in the community was great until I realized that unless you're making a podcast in either of those two genres, no one seemed to be interested. Admittedly, there was a lot of social anxiety involved and maybe I should have been more involved (2/7)
But for as much interest as there was in a nonfiction podcast, there was no follow through. People expressed interest but it felt like no one really showed up. Once again, that was partly on me. But after a while of trying to engage the community, and getting no feedback... (3/7)
... it got old and I got tired of feeling like I'd been wasting my time with all of it. So, I burned out. I stopped caring about my own show. I just wanted to demystify baking for people. And to an extent, I'll be doing that on Twitch one day soon. (4/7)
So, when I went to cancel my Pinecast and saw the listens and subscribers, it shocked me. I had written everything off because there was never any engagement until I announced I was cancelling the show. I'm running a poll to see if there is any interest. (5/7)
Depending on the results, I might actually finish the first season. I've found the scripts and they're all written. I just need to record and edit them. But, during this "hiatus" the show's been on, I've come to understand I'm trans and I've started HRT. (6/7)
And as such, voice dysphoria has become a thing in my life. So if I am to finish this, then I need to find an audio engineer to deal with the editing. But, that's a problem for future me. [END RANT] (7/7)
