The news that Keyontae Johnson has myocarditis is an absolutely critical part of this story. His recovery is wonderful news, but it could have been so much different. We have the chance to escape this season without a worse tragedy befalling a current player. It has to stop now. https://twitter.com/nkalamb/status/1341031032070549505

Earlier today, we learned that Wake Forest's Tariq Ingraham will be out for the season due to COVID-19. Given protocols, it is likely that the cause is myocarditis.
There is no moral justification for the continuation of this season. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30584364/tariq-ingraham-season-ian-dubose-indefinitely-wake-forest-demon-deacons

On August 7th, former Florida State basketball star Michael Ojo died of a heart attack in Serbia. He had previously contracted COVID-19. https://newrepublic.com/article/159340/covid-19-hearts
The point is simple. We know that COVID-19 causes myocarditis. We know how dangerous this is for elite athletes. We also know that the universities are prioritizing revenue over this risk and it appears nothing short of a death on their watch (maybe?) will make them stop.
Have you noticed that football players across the country are voting not to play in bowl games? Have you noticed that college athletes are speaking up more than ever against the conditions of their work? Have you noticed even *coaches* are speaking out? Something's very rotten.
ESPN and most national college basketball outlets have not yet acknowledged the report Keyontae Johnson has myocarditis. This should be the number one story in sports right now and it's not remotely close.
