We bought new wheels, TPMS sensors, and winter tyres for our M3P, got them all fitted and onto the car only to find the TPMS isn't working. Tyre fitters it turns out don't have a TPMS tool so didn't activate the sensors so we go on a hunt to find somebofy to help us out... /1
Garage after garage, nope sorry, they're coded to the car and only Tesla can do that. Phoned up a supposed TPMS specialist, all very helpful, then mention Tesla, errr ummm no sorry you'll need to take it to the main dealer... /2
Fuck that. What we did instead was just buy the TPMS programming tool and do it ourselves. 5 minutes of programming the sensors and a short drive and low and behold they're now working... /3
What the fuck is it with people shitting themselves about Tesla's being complicated and not being willing to help, even when we're quite happy to pay them for 5 minutes of their time? It's just TPMS and it's really very easy with the right tool. /4
I'm really annoyed that absolutely nobody was willing or able to assist as soon as they found out it was for a Tesla. Shit like this where people are unable get simple stuff done puts people off. In the end it really was simple, it just cost us buying a professional TPMS tool.
