The best way I can describe these papers is that they remind me of professional watercolor paper, which is actually made from cotton. There are different textures of watercolor papers just as there are of fine art papers for printing photos. @RRankinPhoto @RikRankin

Old Man’s Road is on a textured paper that’s so rough, it’s almost like sandpaper! It think it really helps to make that asphalt look like it’s real. The color detail is crazy. @RRankinPhoto

Here you can see the texture on the border. The next picture is the asphalt and then look closely on the third picture of the sky. You can see the roughness. @RRankinPhoto

@RikRankin is an artist whose medium is photography. But he needs a way to deliver his vision to the world. Just like a painter or a sculptor, he can choose his substrate or material. @RRankinPhoto

Don’t mind Leon barking. The increased Amazon traffic has been hard on him.

With the choice of fine art papers, the photos morph into something else. They look like a fusion of a realistic watercolor painting and a photograph, elevating the print to a piece of fine art. They look beautiful and also IMPORTANT. @RRankinPhoto

Sapphire and Gold on smooth.

It looks like a fusion of a watercolor painting and a photograph because it has a matte quality but the colors are vivid. This one is on smooth cotton paper and the water absolutely gleams. The light is incredible. @RikRankin @RRankinPhoto

I also love how the sapphire in that one softens into a purple color in the sky and is reflected in the sand. Going to look great on my newly painted wall. The first thing you see when you walk in the door. Very swanky. @RRankinPhoto

Well.. the photos that look like museum pieces will be the first thing you see once you get past a barking Leon. He’s not as cute as he looks.

He has been trying to reform, though. With the imminent arrival of Santa, Leon has been contemplating what it really means to be a good boy. But I digress...

I can’t wait to hang these two pieces because they are beautiful and of substance, but also cuz of the story they tell. This is a road trip! I feel the forward motion and the adventure & romance of the road. OM Road has me literally lurching forward in excitement. @RRankinPhoto

By the time we get to the coast, I’m pretty sure we’ll be staying in a little Airbnb cottage and enjoying a refreshing libation watching the sapphire and gold sunset.
