Things That Are Lesbophobic That You Might Not Notice ( a thread )
1 } Assuming that all TERFs are lesbians. Not all TERFs are lesbians and not all lesbians are TERFs. A lesbian can be a TERF but so can a straight woman or a bi woman or an aroace woman, or even a trans man (yes even them!)
2 } Calling and relating lesbians attraction to woman as them being men. Lesbian are not men. Stop calling men and comparing us to men. We are not the standard for men, because we aren’t fucking men. Stop relating lesbians to men.
3 } Not allowing lesbian only spaces. Often when lesbians talk about lesbian spaces sapphic spaces are brought up as an alternative which is good, but lesbians are allowed to make servers, book clubs, ect. where men and male romantic relationships will never come up. 1/2
To say that we are exclusionary for wanting our own space is insensitive. Please remember the majority of the lgbt community likes men. Some Sapphics like and date men. Sometimes we don’t wanna hear about men. Lesbian and Sapphic are two overlapping but different labels 2/2
4 } Reading the lesbian master doc as a joke or to “convert” yourself to lesbianism. Being a lesbian is not some conversion activity that you decide to do and the master doc is meant to be a serious collection of text. Pls don’t read it as a tiktok read it bc u want / need to
5 } The “you need dick” and other comments surrounding our attraction and genitalia. Lesbians are attracted to women. Not all women have vulvas not all men have dicks. Most of us have sexual attraction but you literally don’t need to mention it ever
6 } stop calling lesbians homophobic for saying things like “I hate men” and “men are gross” and “thank god I don’t like men”. If they are calling mlm gross for liking men that is homophobic but if I just say “fuck men” the. It has no deeper meaning. Fuck men.
7 } saying lesbians can like men in anyway is lesbopphobic. Bi & pan lesbians are lesbophobic.
8 } assuming all lesbians are sexual is lesbophobic. lesbian isn’t a porn category and we might have sexual urges or we might not but our sex lives are not what make us lesbians. Lesbianism is not inherently sexual. Two lesbians dating is not lesbian porn it’s a lesbian couple
9 } leaving out the lesbian flag will always be lesbophobic. the acronym is lgbt and there is a collective lesbian flag that we have agreed on as a community. to exclude it from basic pride posts and art is an act of lesbophobia. We are the first letter. Remember us.
10 } I am serious about this one...trans men can not be lesbians. Stop calling trans men butches (we are different) and lesbians shut the fuck up! Also trans women have a space in the lesbian community and to say they don’t is transphobic
11 } stop saying asexuals can’t be lesbians. asexuality does not cancel out lesbianism.
12 } stop saying Butch / Femme couples are restrictive or counter productive to “queer culture” and go fuck yourself :)
13 } gold star lesbianism and the idea behind it is lesbophobic. lesbians are not less than for experiencing comphet or having sex with men. A lesbians past doesn’t make them less of a lesbian. Not everyone has their sexuality figured out by 17 sometimes it takes decades.
