(1) A quick thread about how to win political office.
Chances are that if YOU ran for office locally (really locally) you'd win, this time or next.
Here's why:

(2) The bigger races attract a lot of coverage in the professional and amateur media. The smaller races don't. And even if they do, that's not necessarily a deal breaker.
Most of the decisions that ruin everything are made at your local school board, town council etc.

(3) Over time, we win by taking small races, then medium, then large ones.
It's no use having the presidency and the senate for four years when your school board is mandating critical race theory and overspending on union administrators' salary packages.

(4)Clearly, we are smarter than the left. That's not even in doubt.
But we have to get smarter on tactics. And we have to SHOW UP for the unglamorous events and do the hard graft.
We'll never have as much in billionaire donations as they do.

(5) But we have many advantages over the left. The actual 2020 election results were stunningly good for us. We can keep utilizing the same things that achieved this, while the left destroys itself.

(6) Every election I see lower level races that are won bc no one runs against them. That should never happen. You should run against them, even in a deep blue race. Folk need to have an option to vote for. Do you know how demoralizing it is to see no other names on a ballot?
(7) There are important elections every year, incl. 2021. And the work starts now, or at the latest, in Feb 2021 for the primaries.
For God's sake take a longer term view & get the key dates in your county & state for the next 12 months. If you can't run, find someone who can.

(8) I say that because, granted, some of you will have genuine safety or other reasons why it can't be you. If you've had some scandal 20 years ago it's probably best to be a helper instead. There must be someone in your entire county who's a good option to put up.
(9) I'll close with an anecdote from 30 years ago, when I first volunteered for a local candidate. He had taken leave from his job & door-knocked for 6 months. In his victory speech he held up the first two pairs of shoes he wore out.
