I remember in 2005 I adapted and contextualized a new set of marriage vow that spoke to many couples. I have since developed other interests along the way around end of life care...
Will you love every inch of my body, including the mole I hate to look at?
Will you always be honest?
Will you always vow to breathe and stay in my heart?
Will you be kind?
Will you begin all statements with “This is how I feel?”
Will you listen and hear?
Will you be gentle?
Will you treat me as a precious, fragile child of a loving creator?
Will you merge with me and together find God?
Do you promise me to never take me for granted?
Do you promise to always look at me and focus on me?
Do you promise to make our partnership your priority?
Will you always be my friend?
Will you inspire me?
Will you visualize me as reaching heights of self-fulfilment?
Will you laugh at my jokes?
Will you not laugh when I am clumsy?
To be continued
Will you help me grow sexually?
Will you invest time and energy in learning how to please me; In learning what I love and what I don’t love?
Will you stay healthy, vital and interested in life?
Will you be adventurous?
Will you honor your word?
Will you be accountable?
Will you respect me?
Will you respect my boundaries
Holy child of God, will you love, bless and heal me?
