This morning, @SalmonCoast released a report presenting one approach to assessing the status of #salmon pop'ns in the Broughton Archipelago, northeast Vancouver Island, and surrounding mainland inlets.
These waters fall within the territories of many Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw First Nations and are also known as DFO Management Area 12, a geographic unit which we used to scope which salmon populations we included in the analysis.

If you like your science delivered through soundwaves, consider listening to this podcast produced by Clare Atkinson where she and I discuss the work, the results, the limitations, and what it feels like to look up the mouth of the Ahnuhati River...

As is my pre-dominant experience in life & science & whatnot, the work for this report left me humbled by all that I don't know and raised more questions than it answered. I hope it may be a useful complement to the knowledge and action of those on the ground & in the rivers.
Thanks to many fine folks who supported this whole endeavour and provided valuable feedback along the way. And big thanks to co-leads, @bat3man and @peacock_steph.
