Examples of what Taylor actually meant by the quote that swifties have misused so much that its been made into a joke: a small but educational thread
1. Christine Blasey Ford was dragged through mud and people questioned the validity of her testimony because she got a bit emotional while recounting her traumatic experience while Brett was throwing an entire tantrum dodging questions yet still got selected for SCOTUS.
Clear example of: a man is allowed to react, a woman can only overreact.
2. Fangirls are usually described as obsessive & borderline psycho for having interests while no one says anything when fanboys show the same behavior. We can see this with male sports fans who even destroy stuff after games.

A man is allowed to react a woman can only overreact.
3. Its Kanye West being praised for wanting to fight for artist’s masters, while Taylor getting slammed and labeled as hysterical for bringing up the conversation.

A man does something its strategic, a woman does the same thing its calculated.
4. Its people not voting for women for high ranking positions of power because they are deemed “too hormonal” while we can see men abuse this power with no repercussions.

A man is allowed to react a woman can only overreact.
5. Its no one batting an eye at 6ix9ine for trashing his place after getting #1 on the Hot 100, while Cardi B was dragged for celebrating WAP going #1.

A man is allowed to react a woman can only overreact.
Taylor meant this quote for the entertainment industry when white men are allowed to do less than bare minimum and get praised while women have to constantly reinvent themselves to not lose relevancy, not for POC men who work hard to gain what they’ve achieve in a racist industry
But she also meant it in real life scenarios such as what i showed before. Also before yall come at me for Kanye being a black man and still being in this thread pls realize that its in the context of men being considered strategic while women are labeled as calculating.
Context is important. Yall keep pulling this quote on men like BTS who actually work hard and are more marginalized in this industry than a white woman. BTS has to go through so much xenophobia and racism simply because they are korean and it is ignorant to push all that aside to
Try to prove a point about the industry being misogynistic while there are so many white male artists out there who actively use their white male privilege to their advantage that you can use as an example.
In the end, this quote was/is extremely powerful but swifties and other stans who keep pulling it for fanwars in the wrong context have made it lose its value. Please educate yourself beforehand before you start throwing this quote at whoever to fit your narrative. Ok bye.
