NieR Automata
A2 character breakdown

A2's character is full of a plethora of important details that make her who she is. She was initially created to be a sacrificial pawn. She was born to die. She is the first to draw attention to the idea that we've been lied to & -
-betrayed. In a metaphorical sense, she believed at first that if there is a God, they created us just to die. That life is meaningless. The Nihilism behind her character stems from Nietzche as stated in the game (if you want to know a bit more, he's a unique read). Her character
begins to change as she's exposed to 2B. She gains 2B's memories and basically becomes A22B and a culmination of 2B's character arc as well. A2 is sort of the focal point of all this growth. From 2B's perspective, she was tired of being built to kill 9S which was in her programm-
-ing. Killing 9S because his model was exceptionally smart and would eventually find out the secrets behind the world if not consistently trimmed. Back to A2, who develops in a world of violence. She was born to die and kill. A cycle of pointless life and death. She is labeled as
an enemy to mankind when she refused to die. She was the first to ever make a conscious choice to choose to live her own life. Her character arc is a parallel to 9S who begins to believe that because nothing matters, we should all just die. But through A2's experiences in the st-
-ory and side missions, you are able to see both horrors and the beauty in life. By the end of Route C, "Meaningless" Code, she sacrifices her life, believing that she can protect what she believes to be "life." That regardless of being machine or android, they feel emotion. Her-
-last lines are in reference to life as a whole. That no matter how ugly her journey had been, she had grown to find this life beautiful. She would protect 9S, who in her memories of 2B was someone she loved, and let him have a new start as she gave her life for it. I find her -
- Character to be inspiring because like many, she had no reason to live but refused to die. She felt everything was meaningless. But because of those around her, was able to find joy and peace in having those relationships with people she grew to care about. She grows from some-
-one with a grudge against God, life itself, and her own existence, to someone who found the beauty in all of it and was able, in the end, to get a fresh start.

A few pieces of symbolism built into her character design as well were the fact that she never had the blindfold on in
the game, which meant that by the time we find her, she already can see past the lies of the Yorha. She'd broken from the cycle of being a puppet.
There is also the symbolism of when she cuts her hair which as her hair drops, it signifies "separation" of your past self. She took-
-on the role of basically a merge between A2 and 2B as she became "something else" as she left her old self behind on the pavement. This goes to make her appear closer to 2B, but also a message that she's ready to make a change in her life.
Questions that we are presented as we play as A2:

Does it even matter?
Why do we exist?
Is there meaning to it all?
Is there a point?
What is life?

I am not able to perfectly express how I feel about her character, but I feel there is so much more to explore that I didn't touch
