Death Bowling Stats (Overs 16-20):
We’re gonna look at econ, as that’s what is probably most vital at the death
Amir = 8.41 ((59.4 overs)
Shaheen = 9.38 (22.1 overs)
Haris Rauf = 8.39 (18 overs)
Wahab Riaz = 9.50 (46.2 overs)
Umar Gul = 7.58 (88.1 overs)

Now that’s T20Is, let’s isolate T20s (domestic + leagues)
Amir = 8.45 (130.2 overs)
Shaheen = 8.20 (36.2 overs)
Haris Rauf = 8.71 (38.0 overs)
Wahab Riaz = 7.84 (177.0 overs)
Some of these bowlers’ econs increase when moving onto the international stage.

Rauf is an exception, but he’s only bowled 18.0 overs - so it’s a very small sample size
One must also take that into account when looking at Shaheen, because he hasn’t played as many international games as Amir/Wahab. Twenty20s have been included to just bridge the gap a bit

Ok now let’s look at Twenty20 stats since 2018
Amir = 9.04 (80.4 overs)
Shaheen = 8.20 (36.2 overs)
Haris Rauf = 8.71 (38.0 overs)
Wahab Riaz = 7.56 (114.2 overs)
Amir’s econ has worsened and if you isolate 2020 it’s much worse (9.64 in 35.1 overs

And now internationals since 2018?
Amir = 8.25 (22.4 overs)
Shaheen = 9.38 (22.1 overs)
Haris Rauf = 8.39 (18.0 overs)
Wahab Riaz = 9.21 (11.5 overs)
V small sample size but this is looking at recent (ish) performances. So onto my conclusions...

- Amir’s death bowling seems to have regressed, domestically. Internationally, didn’t play much this year - but a solid econ regardless (since 2018)
- Shaheen at the death currently is quite expensive internationally but he’s solid in T20s (small sample)
- Shaheen at the death currently is quite expensive internationally but he’s solid in T20s (small sample)
- Haris Rauf is fairly consistent across the board. Slightly better internationally. (Small sample) Unfortunately he has had inconsistent performances (this years PSL), hence a higher domestic econ
- Wahab Riaz is a gun death bowler domestically.
- Wahab Riaz is a gun death bowler domestically.
Not so much on the international stage (9+ overall and since 2018)
Take what you want from this, but I did notice Shaheen being expensive at the death today and wanted to research it. Amir’s 2020 figures aren’t great. Haris Rauf isn’t that bad... and Wahab is Wahab
