The popular term 'Rapture', even though not found anywhere in scripture, is used for the phrases 'catching away' or 'caught up'
(1 Thess 4:16-17)
The sad truth in Christendom today, is that virtually everything has been 'churchianized'.

This skews the understanding of the readers; this is why there's so much confusion and this is also why ten doctrines could be created from a particular chapter.
I hope to straighten & clear up a lot of misconceptions and scriptural misappropriations through this thread.

The definition of 'Rapture' is stated in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, which is actually written in the text as 'caught up'. The root word for 'caught up' is 'Harpazo' (G726).
Harpazo is found 17 times in the New Testament; the descriptions that go with this word are usually 'catch away'

'pull', 'by force', 'pluck'.
This just buttresses the point that is event will be in a twinkling of an eye, less than a second (1 Corinthians 15:52)

Now, the description or like-manner of what the rapture would look like, is stated in scripture, and no, it's not about vanishing and floating in the sky.

The phrase 'caught away' in this verse, is also called Harpazo

You'd notice how the Holy Spirit 'raptured' Philip.

Caught up, changed from mortality to immortality in a twinkling of an eye and at the same time, whisked away to another location on Earth, not in the sky.
Later on, you'll know where that location is, and why the gathering will be there.

Like I've always said, you can't properly interpret scriptures without recognising who the Israelites are, and understanding that the scriptures were written to them and is firstly about them.
Once you get this simple principle, you'd easily decipher Bible prophecies.

Now, apart from Paul, Jesus also talked about the rapture, in Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:27 & Luke 21:27

WHO ARE THE ELECT?

But contrary to popular theology, the focus in unlocking this mystery isn't the church, but Israel.
So, why would Israel (The Elect) have to be gathered from the four corners of the Earth?
Deut 28:64, 68; Lev 26:3; Ezekiel 6:9, 11:17, 12:15, 20:34, 37:21-22; Isaiah 11:12-13...

Jeremiah 30:11 & Luke 21:24 amongst others.
From reading these scriptures, you'd notice that there's a consistent situation of Israel being scattered among all nations.

Now, some may argue that these prophecies have already been fulfilled, but if you read those verses again,
you'd notice that those prophecies are all talking about Israel (northern kingdom) & Judah (southern Kingdom) becoming one; we know that such prophecy was never fulfilled in scripture, which means that those prophecies are yet to be fulfilled.
Therefore, the reason why the angels would have to gather The Elect (Israel) from the 4 corners of the earth, is because at the time of this event, Israel would still be scattered among all nations, & at the same time, the land of Israel would be occupied be gentiles- Luke 21:24
As it is today.
So we see that, the primary reason for the rapture is to gather Israel back in her land & establish the heavenly kingdom physically, on earth.

of words of assurance to those gentiles who believe & work in The Way.
Chief among those scriptures are 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:52.
In these two instances, Paul was also addressing a gentile audience , meaning that they'd be partakers in the Kingdom.

will turn the tables and make Israel the head and no longer the tail; it also describes how Israel will rule the nations as priests and Kings and become the master instead of the slave that she once was.
Of course, this is exclusive to only Born Again Israel.

So, we see through this teaching & scriptures, that there's no scriptural provision for people vanishing to a heaven up above.
Heaven up above, is the abode of God; God created man's heaven on earth in the Pre-fall Adamic state.
God is on the path to returning this Earth back...

to its heavenly state as it was before man fell.
Also, we can see that the rapture is the gathering of Born Again Israel from all corners of the earth, along with those Born Again gentiles who cleave to the house of Jacob.

In the same breath, that period of the rapture will be a period of the final 'nail-in-coffin' judgement of all the nations that mistreated, sold & enslaved Israel.

Obviously, you'd have noticed by now that, the Pretrib, midtrib and post-trib rapture theories are non-existent.
This is because those doctrines aren't found in scripture; they are doctrines of men.

Everyone stays till the end of this age, and then the gathering and judgement of all the nations, take place all at the same period.
