I like the Filipino Maoists and I hope they succeed in their armed struggle against Duterte's regime but unfortunately they have little to no chance of success from my analysis
They have numerous problems to deal with. Firstly, they don't have enough domestic support. Second, it's unlikely they'll defeat the Philippine government in a war of guerilla attrition
Third. The Philippines is a battleground for a Chinese and American influence in the Pacific and is a strategic location.
Neither side would want a neutral communist governemt in their doorstop at such a strategic location so it's likely that both America and Chine will supplly Duterte to defeat the Communists if they become a larger threat
