Many things happen behind the scenes on movies, or when one is out with a movie star... Here’s a tale of the latter experience...
Jim Caviezel, star of my movie, INFIDEL, and I were smoking cigars at a lounge in Dallas. A group of Indian immigrants were there, guys in their 20s and 30s. We started chatting and learned they’re all in IT contributing to America’s high-tech dominance...
One guy kept looking at me saying “You look really familiar.” I responded , “Me?!” and gestured to Jim but they didn’t pick up on it....
Later, they asked what business we were in and I replied, “Movies and TV.” I told them I just made INFIDEL that starred a very good actor named Jim Caviezel, they nodded as if they knew who he was, apparently unaware he was seated next to me...
“Yeah, Caviezel played Jesus. And was on that show, ‘Person of Interest’” they said. I responded “Yes, a terrific actor.” Still, none of them noticed that JIM CAVIEZEL was seated right next to me....
Then one guy jumped from his seat, looked at Jim and exclaimed, “It’s you!” Suddenly they all realized that Jim Caviezel aka “Jesus!” was sitting right there this whole time! High-fives and selfies with Jim followed. Jim just smoked throughout...
Then Caviezel smiled that winning smile of his. It was great to see the looks on these guys faces. That’s part of my job as a director, make sure people notice the actors. No one, not a one of these guys, asked my name....
