Ralf Rangnick, currently unemployed after parting ways with the Red Bull GmbH following a move to AC Milan of which fell through in the Summer of 2020.
Ralf Rangnick, the Godfather of the gegenpressing (counter pressing) is a tactical philosophy of which in simple terms ‘let’s you win the ball back nearer to the oppositions goal’ this tactic has notably been popularised by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side.
Ralf has built a legacy in the Red Bull franchise by taking Leipzig and Salzburg up the ranks and into Champions League football in a short period of time.
Ralf has been the brains behind RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg’s rise due to smart recruitment and development of talented players, such as Erling Braut Haaland, Sadie Mane, Dayot Upamecano and many more.
Ralf has had a lot of power over these clubs, I question if he could even get this sort of power at Arsenal of which he definitely should as he would bring a promising style and philosophy to the club which Arsenal have lacked for many years now.
Ralf can work in a double role as Sports Director and Head Coach but has a much more influential role as the Sports Director in my opinion, he also doesn’t just have a good eye for talented football players but also managers of which he has worked with in the Red Bull brand.
It would be excellent to partner Ralf up with one of the manager he’s worked with in the past a dynamic duo, such as Julian Nagglesman, Jesse Marsch, Marco Rose or Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Ralf has great capital gains with buying players cheap and selling for profit, some may see this as a negative, however a situation where this paid off was Liverpool buying Coutinho for a good price and selling on for huge profit even though being their best player at the time.
This transfer business done by Liverpool transitioned them to where they are to day with using this money to reinvest in new talented players.
Arsenal need a major overhaul from the board to the players and I believe Ralf Rangnick is the perfect way to start this path to success off.
Arsenal have one of the best academy’s in europe and with Ralf’s supervision and intelligence he could really help with transforming these talented youth players into stars.
In conclusion I would absolutely love Ralf Rangnick to come in as a Sports/Technical Director as I believe he’d transfigure Arsenal Football club to greatness and up there with the elites of the sport.
However unfortunately I do not see this move happening due to Ralf wanting a lot of power within the club in which the Kroenke’s will not give. #KroenkeOut
