I jave just had a very interesting chat eith a technician from a sprinkler/water mist supplier who assures me that flats in multi-storey blocks could be provided with such systems at a cost of about £3,500 for sprinklers or £7,000 for water mist systems. These would suppress ....
... a fire in its early stage of development and prevent it growing sufficiently to affect cladding on the outside of a building. Bearing in mind that some leaseholder in flats have been quoted as much as £70,000 each for the removal of cladding this looks like a solution worth
... considering. Suppression systems could also be installed more quickly than cladding can be removed and replaced, albeit both would take some years. This could be an employment opportunity and therefore a win/win situation. Why is this approach not being considered?
