#Schools URGENTLY need workable solutions to teach SAFELY whilst protecting the health of the whole school community.
Adequate #ventilation is crucial, wearing extra layers may be needed to keep warm.

IMO kids in secondary school CAN & SHOULD #WearAMask 
IN CLASSROOMS. It won’t do any long term harm, certainly less than the chaos we see currently. Younger children should be encouraged/given the option to wear #masks if they wish. UK kids are no different from kids elsewhere. 3/

The last term has shown clearly that #schools are playing a significant part in community transmission & unless ppl in power take their blinkers off & accept this reality, there’ll be many more unnecessary/avoidable deaths/cases of #LongCovid. EVERYONE should be concerned, 4/
...not just those connected to a school child or teacher. All of this was predictable & preventable. The addition of a more infectious #COVID19 variant makes it even more important to take the situation in #schools very seriously.

The notion that the widespread use of #lateralflow tests in schools is THE solution is naive & disingenuous. Hopefully they will help but are only 1 part of the armoury against #coronavirus.

Those who continue to support current UNSAFE practices-classes of 30 unmasked pupils in poorly ventilated, cramped rooms- are complicit in what happens in coming weeks.
