THREAD on #FOIA stuff in newly-passed #COVID19/omnibus spending bill (full text here, PDF: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-stat/graphics/BILLS-116HR133SA-RCP-116-68.pdf) (1/x)
The bill gives $1.86m to the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians for #FOIA compliance (2/x)
The bill includes a new #FOIA b(3) exemption (🤬) for "All information relating to proceedings" of the newly-formed Copyright Claims Board, except for final determinations of the Board
There's an attempt to make secret certain records regarding the Secretary (of Labor? HHS?)'s recommendations regarding health plans/insurance

(note, however, that this paragraph does not have the required specific reference to make it a $FOIA b3 exemption ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ )
The bill requires the State Department and USAID to "substantially reduce" their time for responding to #FOIA requests, compared to last fiscal year
The bill has a provision that does something with #FOIA fees collected by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (seems like carrying out the requirements of various other acts?)
There are a few other references to #FOIA in the bill along the lines of "this doesn't require things to be made public that are exempt under FOIA" that are not terribly interesting (7/x)
And there you have it! Happy #FOIA-ing! (except, apparently, for the Copyright Claims Board) (8/8)
