I enjoy clicking on people like these and seeing the most expected individuals following them. Also, this article is glorious because it looks at everything Rashford did, and can't conclude that things like "feed hungry kids" is just popular and good. No. It's a "woke" plot. https://twitter.com/edwest/status/1341286828356341766
Rashford can't possibly care about helping children. Impossible. It's a grand plot by agencies to strip English football of its identity, making it woke, as a way to boost the stature of PR firms.
I guess the difference is that Beckham is white and usually talked about children in countries that Proper Football Man think that hunger is natural and a sign of those people's lower status. And when those children are in England, then sir, you are being too political.
The ending is the best part. We've gone from criticizing wealthy players for not helping out, to criticizing players who come from working class backgrounds for caring about those problems, because those problems include Black and Brown people.
And what is this? Ashley Cole supporting a charity that helped out children in the UK living in unfit and emergency housing? Seems woke to me. https://www.thirdsector.co.uk/charitable-side-of-ashley-cole/article/613556
"A lot of people look up to footballers, so you have to do things the right way, on and off the pitch. You have to be respectable."

- anti-woke king Ashley Cole speaking about raising awareness about struggling children in the UK in 2006
Maybe Wayne Rooney is different. Hmmm. I don't know, he does have his own foundation that he does charity through and three years ago gave £750,000 to a children's hospice, Alder Hey children's hospital, and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
I guess we can only conclude that footballers with working class backgrounds tend to care about poor children and making things a bit better and have for a long time. Shockingly, such a stance tends to be popular. Well, as long as they aren't Black and challenge the status quo.
