1. In 1984, a CIA manual titled Psychological Operations in Guerrilla War was leaked. This manual was used to train Nicaraguan Contras so that the Sandinistas, who overthrew Somoza, could be toppled. Why am I mentioning something from so long ago? Because it's relevant. Thread👇
2. The manual taught readers to lead "demonstrators into clashes with the authorities, to provoke riots or shootings, which lead to the killing of one or more persons, who will be seen as the martyrs;
3. this situation should be taken advantage of immediately against the government to create even bigger conflicts."
4. Where have we seen such tactics? Is this not exactly what Hong Kong Blackshirts did? The genius of the CIA is they don't seem to even need to change up their tactics.
5. Regime change and destabilization has more or less been the same for decades now, and people seem to fall for them every time, only to realize that things invariably get worse, no matter how good or bad things were before.
6. It's not that I like to talk about history for the hell of it. I honestly wish I didn't have to talk about history all the time, but, like liberals often preach but never practice, if we don't learn from history, then we're bound to repeat past mistakes.
7. We should not only study history to inoculate ourselves from repeating past errors, but to also recognize symptoms of bad developments before they become catastrophes.
