At home (US) I’m politically a progressive. But abroad I understand that democracy isn’t something that can be installed or copy & pasted. Democracy doesn’t take into consideration genocidal neighbors or geopolitical conflicts. So it shouldn’t surprise you that at home I can 1/3
have disdain for Russian interference in US politics while being abroad in Armenia despising US meddling in others policies & supporting Russia coming to the rescue. Moreover I can embrace nationalism for countries like Armenia that need it for survival while at the same time 2/3
having a disdain for it in the US where nationalism serves no security or geopolitical functionality. See, it’s ok to be open to the differences in governing around the world and not force feed the world “democracy”. 3/3
