In this thread I am venting my frustration about the terribly sorry state of affairs by our Govt.s in promoting tourism as well as preservation of our heritage and culture. @MinOfCultureGoI @tourismgoi
I was visitng the City Palace of Alwar. Majority of the five story building is now serving as the collectorate. I understand democracy, we don't have kings anymore, all erstwhile princely properties belong to the people etc - but have you seen such abuse of country's heritage +
+ in any other country? The French revolted against their monarch but did they create offices with Grand Trianon? Could the @RajGovOfficial not find any other building(s) to house these offices?
Such beautiful archways in Alwar city palace (collectorate
) are boarded up by Green Valley plywood https://twitter.com/sriram_kanvah/status/1341300601959841792?s=19
What a shame.

What a shame.
The premises - as is customary in this part of the country - is full of pan stain. The board that proudly displays that the museum of City Palace has finest of collections is in shabby state and pan stains around it.
The palace, albeit, is not open to public. I am sure it will be very pretty considering what is seen from outside
The museum is on the top floor. Difficult for senior citizens to reach. The artifacts though are well maintained in there.
Next we visited Musi Maharani ki Chhatri. The cenotaph is absolutely gorgeous but there is no history written anywhere, no tour guide, no booklet nothing. The pretty waterbody around it is dirty, full of garbage and algal growth due to poor maintenance.
I visited the Jalmahal in Deeg. When we reached there, there was no one to issue tickets. The guards won't let us in without ticket but can't issue tickets either. The only way one can buy tickets is through ASI website. Thankfully, I had Mobile data

The Jalmahal was the summer capital of Bharatpur kings. The fort-palace is a great example of Rajasthani art & architecture. The palace compound tells great stories of valor of Jat kings. However, there is no material for tourists to educate themselves. Why @my_rajasthan @ASIGoI?
It is one thing to continuously talk about our heritage and ancient India and use that for political purpose but it is quite another to actually honor our rich heritage and maintain our monuments. Both @INCIndia and @BJP4India only provide lip service.
@PMOIndia @narendramodi Trust me it is not a bad thing to be proud of our heritage. We have so much to be proud of. We are not maintaining those for our next generations. All that is needed is to actually care enough for those to have a scientific approach towards maintaining.
