Small victory the #CAUW stimulus protect #unemployed workers from a reduction in their benefits if they are unemployed for more than 1 year and on #PEUC @ENPancotti
Confused? If someone is unemployed for more than 1 year their #benefityear expires, and so does their weekly benefit amount
Standard rules indicate that they have to reestablish eligibility, and can get #UI if they worked intermittently during the year
Since most intermittent work is spotty the resulting benefit is much lower. Typically drop would be $320 per week to $125
The bill protects people in this situation allowing them to stay on PEUC if it is $25 greater than this new amount.
They would then still have rights to regular #UI after PEUC ends
I told you it was convoluted. But trust me it is good. Maybe @UnemploymentL v a make a @tiktok_us explaining it
