A lot of top tier games now leverage on afro-centric content to increase global interest in their games. They recognize the massive number of Africans who love and play games.
Don't get me wrong, the infrastructure to support games development and highly competitive esports here is still almost void in relation to what exists in other continents. This problem however is not just a function of the laxity of Game Studios, Publishers or organizers.
The supportive subsctructure to be created our socioeconomic reality is also very discouraging. Buying cracked games is still a normal thing here and you really can't blame most people.
FUN FACT: 19 out of the 20 youngest countries are African. The average African is below 25. This continent is friggin YOUNG!!! With a marginal increase in our purchasing power, we would turn the Gaming Industry on its head.
Certain companies are seeing this though, so they are slowly getting their foot in the water. In 5 years, Africans would be much vocal in the games industry and companies with grassroots influence would reap the benefit largely.
My advice, find organisations that are already in the African gaming space. Organisations that were probably created by people who saw a niche gaming need in their community/country. Partner with these organisations and get them to show you the slight modifications..
..that should be made to have a succccesful Gaming Company here in Africa. The economics, preferences and traditions are different....partnering with these organisations makes life easier for all investors.
Investing foreign organisations also get to rely on the "Rise of African Startups" story to create more notoriety. Let's face it, that story is clearly inevitable.
Organizations like @arutugaming @LudiqueWorks @esportsGhana @NigeriaEsports @techcreekng are some of my best bets.
