In an ideal world, Democrats would look at this and think, "Oh wow, our idea of us doesn't comport with a lot of other people's idea of us. Why not?" Instead, one expects a slew of opeds about how first-generation immigrants internalize their xenophobia.

This is in keeping w/the same rightward trend among Black and brown voters. That has little, if anything, to do w/race. It has to do w/left-wing (or woke) vernacular, which aims to reaffirm the old class hierarchy. We keep talking about race. We should be talking about class.
