sonya gregorio and her son, frank gregorio, were shot dead by officer joel nuezca because of an argument that happened with the officer’s daughter. neither sonya nor her son showcased violent behaviors and neither of them had a weapon. they were innocent.
say their names, remember their faces. these are just one of the many cases of police brutality that have happened in the philippines. the system there is horrible, and filipinos who speak up against it can risk getting red-tagged.
what is red-tagging? it is malicious blacklisting of an individual or organization who is percieved by state agents to be “threats” or an “enemy of the state.” for any filipinos reading this, please use “
” to take place of any personal info on your account! stay safe.

more importantly, remember the officer’s name: joel nuezca. remember his face too. he is a disgusting man and deserves no retribution for what he did.
government officials are saying he “surrendered” himself and turned himself in. they are also trying to cover this up as an isolated case. an isolated case is an example of something that is not very common.
so, if this were an isolated case, would the philippines government also like to explain all of this?
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? —

these DO NOT help! if you come across any, ignore them.
2) speak up
use your voice! please. especially if you aren’t from the philippines. our voices matter so much here, and we can help change the future for so many people.
